Important information about your job search

Why is learning to find a new job quickly so important today?

[eJobCoach Economic Chart Image]
According to many recent articles, employees will undergo as many as ten job changes, possibly more. In addition, they'll follow up to 5 different career paths. With mergers and acquisitions occurring regularly, and layoffs or downsizing often being the result, the concept of working for only one company and building a career seems to have become a thing of the past.

And in a article about the New Economy, Wired Magazine pointed out that careers will increasingly resemble networks of multiple and simultaneous commitments with a constant churn of new skills and outmoded roles. The key word here, eJobCoach believes, is "churn."

Consequently, if you want to reduce personal "downtime" between jobs, you need to sharpen and develop your job-hunting skills - in much the same way that you've sharpened and developed your job skills.

You need to know how to find the better jobs which exist mainly in the "hidden" job market. You need to do this as a defensive measure - against the merger or acquisition that can result in your being unexpectedly down- or right-sized. If you do this, you'll create your own sense of security, over and above your job skills, and have the freedom to switch to a better position, whenever you choose.

As the video states: "A multi-level campaign increases your chances of finding a job quickly. If you work with only one key element, like answering ads, you'll decrease your chances accordingly."

In a nutshell, a multi-level search results in maximum exposure, so you find a job faster!
